Kantha, a unique art form native to the Eastern part of India and Bangladesh, that has been practiced for centuries. Generally womenfolk gather together and sew fabric scraps to form applique designs and form running stitches either linearly or into motifs.
This Kantha work comes in a Black Shade on soft Bhagalpur Silk ( not pure Silk) and features large Paisley Motifs over the prominent parts of the saree. The saree is lightweight and just the right thickness for the stitches to stay well and at the same time not get too stiff. This saree is a labor of love!! Expert artists cast their magic and created this!!The artwork is traditional. The pallu with full work are grand. These sarees take weeks to make by artists as everything is handmade.
The saree is ready to wear with falls and pico done. An unstitched blouse fabric as seen in the last picture is included.
****NOTE: HANDMADE PRODUCT ****** Also, since these are handmade, there may be slight stencil marks that are not considered defects.
*Note: There may be minor variations in the shade, the texture of the product. Hues/textures show differently based on ambient lighting, gadget settings, etc.
