Item: Ajrakh hand block print in gharchola pattern
This saree is an amalgamation of 2 styles from the land of Kutch - authentic ajrakh hand block printed on modal silk fabric with gharchola zari weave.
First the saree with a gharchola weave is prepared and then dyed in traditional shades. Ajrakh blocks are meticulously stamped on the small check blocks one by one to create this 6 yards of beauty.
Modal silk is a plant derived silk, is breathable and has a mild sheen. The pallu has a rich Zari weave featuring motifs for some old world charm.
Ajrakh is one of the oldest fabric printing techniques in the world and involved a very elaborate multi step process.
