Our weavers from a quaint town in Tamil Nadu were inspired by a story in Ramayana where Sita Devi requests Lord Hanuman for Banana fibers as she needed a change of clothes. She later weaves a saree from those fibers. This got them thinking and they have fine-tuned the process of making sarees from a variety of plant-based fibers that were easily available and were simply getting accumulated in the land fills. Hence began their journey to make sarees and shawls using plant based fibers, This warm saree is handcrafted using banana fibers. The texture and the subdued sheen make this an exclusive saree that is eye-pleasing and easy to wear. If you are looking for 100 percent eco-friendly and vegan options to build on your sustainability closet without losing any aesthetics, this should be your choice!
This saree is ready to wear with fall and pico done. Handmade silk tassels adorn the pallu and add more grace to it. An unstitched blouse fabric is included.
*Note: There may be minor variations in the shade, the texture of the product. Hues/textures show differently due to variations in screen settings and other factors, *Note: This is a handwoven saree and there may be slight inconsistencies such as in it's weaving.
