While today's Tanchoi weaving might be closely connected to Banarasi weavers, this traditional art traces its roots to China. It is believed that three weaves from Surat commissioned by a Parsi merchant, travelled to China to learn the craft. 'Tan' meaning three, 'Chhoi' , the name of their Chinese teacher. Hence comes Tanchhoi to India!
This Tanchoi Jamawar Saree comes in a beautiful shade of cream having multicolored floral motifs woven intricately throughout the saree. The specialty of the Tanchoi weave is that it leaves no floating threads on the reverse side.
The saree comes with an unstitched cream blouse with floral border. It is ready to wear with falls and pico done. Pretty tassels line the pallu.
