Ikkat is a noteworthy Textile patterning technique that is believed to have its roots in South East Asia has found its way to other parts of the world, notably the town of Pochampally where these beautiful sarees are made.

In the Ikkat technique the yarns are resist dyed using complex calculations prior to weaving and the 2 step procedure of resist dyeing and then weaving produces motifs uniquely identified by jagged outlines.
